Abstract

Information technology has reached a point, where various optimization targets (security availability, user friendliness, energy efficiency) for IT services for science can be reached only by holistic approaches. The talk describes this at the example of the Leibniz Supercomputing Center of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Munich, Germany, offering services to scientists in HPC (SuperMUC), networking (Munich network) and archiving.

Running the center efficiently requires various holistic tools such as for proactive monitoring and machine learning analysis. The presentation also covers specific requirements induced by new European regulations.
